Hello All,
Since my lovely, wonderful, loving husband got me a website started today I will fill you all in on what has gone on so far in preparing for my Kenya travels, which will be November 27 until December 15, 2009.
I learned about the SHARE Kenya program in my first semester of medical school in fall of 2006. I’ve been so excited for 4th year to come around so I could participate. In May I filled out the paperwork to apply then found out 9 days ago that I was accepted in to the program, which meant I had to hit the ground running on preparations. So far, mostly lots and lots and lots and lots of paperwork. My $500 deposit is paid in full, so it’s official!! I went to try to get my yellow fever, typhoid, hep A, and all those vaccinations taken care of today, but found out it was by appointment only and was far more expensive than I had originally anticipated. I still have a while until I need to have those done though. I wrote a letter asking for support- financial, clinic supplies, prayer- today and will post that on here as well as hand them out in person. I will be purchasing my plane ticket later today.
Matt has set up a few things on this site.
- I will write here to keep updated on what all I’m doing to prepare, then what all I did while I was there.
- I will get some pictures up when I get there. I don’t know how much internet time i’ll have so a lot of pictures will be posted after I get home.
- You can financially donate via pay-pal or e-mail me from the contact page to get a mailing address.
- I will have a list of clinic supplies we will need. Once again, you can get my mailing address from the contact page.
- There will be a link to the SHARE Kenya website if you’d like to read up.
Hopefully this is enough information to bring everyone up to date. Thank you for your support!!
